WebP (Web Picture format) is a new image format that provides lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. This new format was developed by Google, and it offers significantly better compression other formats like JPG/JPEG and PNG. WebP lossless images are 26% smaller in size than PNG lossless images, and WebP lossy images are 25-34% smaller in size than JPEG images at equivalent SSIM quality index.
